WORK EXPERIENCE (YOUTH ONLY)

The work experience activity is available to any Out-of-School Youth (OSY)between ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-one (21) inclusive. It is designed primarily to provide an opportunity to gain actual hands-on work experience at an assigned non-profit work site. Assignments are made by Youth Program staff based on current opening and the participants qualifications. In most cases, the average length of placement is three (3) months but cannot be longer then six (6) months total. Reimbursement is made at the on-going wage for up to thirty-five (35) hours per week dependent upon the actual work site schedule. Participants are also required to coordinate a job search activity with their assigned Youth Program Case Manager/Counselor and/or participate in GED training, if needed. Work experience is considered a stepping stone to employment.
