Intake/Eligibility Determination
All prospective Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
clients are afforded a personal interview for
intake (filing of an application) and eligibility
determination. All prospective WIA customers
must first have enrolled in the Lackawanna
County CareerLink system which involves an on-line
initial job search. If this is either unsuccessful
or not appropriate, customers may then apply for
WIA funding for short-term skill
training/education or On-The-Job Training
(OJT). Primarily, this entails documentation of the following:
- Family income verification for the previous six months;
- Proof of dislocation/separation from an employer, if applicabale;
- Financial determination from the Unemployment Center(US) if currently collecting;
- Social Security Card;
- For males born after 1959, proof of Selective Service registration;
- Proof of citizenship
This process is simple and handled discreetly and confidentially by trained staff on-site
at the Lackawanna County CareerLink, 135 Franklin Avenue, in downtown Scranton.
